Driver Apprentice

ABOUT THE JOB:
The CDL Driver Apprentice is responsible for participating in and completing the requirements of the WillScot Mobile Mini Driver Development Program to become a CDL Driver. When the program has successfully been completed the responsibilities will include driving a truck greater than 3 tons to deliver relocate and return units to and from customer locations; perform set-ups and knockdowns install essentials and maintain service and safety of units during transportation; ability to complete On-Time In-Full (OTIF) deliveries installations and returns while providing a high level of customer service. The CDL Driver Apprentice is expected to fully comply with all WillScot Mobile Mini policies and all relevant laws and regulations. While in training additional expectations to ensure units are in working condition and ready to be rented will include but are not limited to cleaning repairing painting minor repairs monitoring inventory and other duties as assigned. Success in this role will be dependent on following the program guidelines and achieving milestones throughout the process.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Safety/Environment
- Complies with DOT policies and regulations
- Actsin accordance withWillScotMobile MiniSafety Transportation and Environmental Policies
- Leads and acts to promoteemployee health and safety results through creating a safer workplaceparticipating in safety systems as required (Smith System DuPont STOP™ etc.)training and observations and regularly scheduled assessments of the branch
- Attends periodic safety meetings
- Maintainsa clean and organized work area
- Operates company vehicle safely and maintains a valid driver's license and excellentdriving record free from points
Fleet & Efficient Use of Resources
- Complete training to successfully deliverinstall/relocateandreturnunits from job sitesultimatelyhauling all products from storage containers towide loads; majority of deliveries and pick-ups are local
- Maintain a clean driver's record and diligent attention to safety
- Train on set-upsand knockdowns of units which includes blocking levelingand anchoring of the trailers during delivery removal of blocking material and anchoring during pickup; installs tie downs when ordered
- Assist with theloading and unloadingoframpsstepspadsand piers
- Maintain truck log according toDOTstate and federal regulations
- Maintain all paperwork ensuring customer signatures are collected and daily logs are complete andgiventothe dispatcher
- Maintain constant contact with the dispatcher to receive pickupanddelivery instructions keepingthem informed of any safetyor vehicleissues
- Train to perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires installing light bulbs fuses tire chains and spark plugs
- Complete training to successfully installVAPS (Value Added Products and Services)and/or GLO's (Ground Level Offices)onsite

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- May be reduced to 18+ years of age for intrastate drivers only
- Ability toobtaina current valid Class A commercial vehicle operator's license issued only by one state or jurisdiction
- Ability to pass DOT Medical Exam andobtainCommercial Motor VehicleMedicalCertification
- Good driving record*
- Train tosafely operate a company vehiclesafely load and properly block brace and secure the cargoandsuccessfully complete organization's Safety Training
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Some knowledge of computers is necessary and good communications skillsare requiredfor dealing with customers salespeople contractors shop personnel as well asWillScotMobile Miniemployees at various branch locations
- Enroll and successfully complete trucking schooland achieve atruck driving school certificatefrom a certified and approved CDL Driver training school
- Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently toconverse with the general publicunderstand highwaytraffic signs and signals in the English languagerespond to official inquires and make entries on reportsand records
*Good Driving Record:
- No more than 2 moving violations in the past 36 months in any type of motor vehicle
- Must not have a citation for operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license in the past 36 months
- Must not have experienced a DOT recordable accidentin the previous 36 months in which the driver was cited for a moving violation in connection with a crash or charged with responsibility for the crash
- Driving under the influence of alcohol (as prescribed under the law or refusing to test) - 7 years
- Driving under the influence of a controlled substance - 7 years
- Leaving the scene of an accident - 7 years
- More than one excessive speeding ticket (15 mph or more above the posted limit) - 7 years
- Reckless driving - 7 years
- A moving violation in connection with a fatal accident - 7 years
- Vehicular manslaughter or vehicular homicide - 7 years
- Eluding a police officer - 7 years
