ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

Valuation and Financial Advisory Services (VFAS) is a fast growing practice focused on providing business and intangible asset valuations, financial opinions, financial and strategic analysis, forecasting and transaction support services covering a broad spectrum of industries and situations. Clients range from early stage to Fortune 500 companies, as well as capital market constituents globally. A Director will be directly responsible for day-to-day project management and the preparation of underlying analytical support across multiple projects simultaneously,

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• The Director will lead the preparation of enterprise, equity, and intangible asset valuation analyses, including market multiple valuation approaches and discounted cash flow analyses. These engagements will be prepared for a broad range of purposes, spanning from fair value purchase price allocation and goodwill impairment valuation assignments for accounting purposes, to private equity portfolio valuations and transaction advisory assignments. He/she will identify potential comparable public companies and perform research to identify comparable M&A transactions, and analyze market multiples such as EV/EBITDA, calculate WACC (weighted average cost of capital).

• The Director will prepare analyses of historical and pro forma financial information for businesses and assets in order to assess trends and fluctuations that may impact cash flow requirements and deal valuation, and work effectively as a team member by demonstrating commitment to quality, furthering education and investment in themselves, sharing responsibilities, providing support, maintaining communications, and updating senior team members on progress and issues.

• The Director will prepare intangible asset valuations such as developed technology valuations, film library valuations, music royalty valuations, life sciences valuations and other intellectual property valuations. Techniques will include bottom-up forecast development from actual source data as well as consideration of techniques including "relief from royalty" and multi period excess earnings (MPEE).

• The Director will perform industry and company research utilizing online tools and publicly available information, assist in preparing reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties, and develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel.

• The Director will assist in reviewing valuation models prepared by management of private equity firms and hedge funds, and attend valuation due diligence meetings with clients and auditors.

• The Director will be required to build strong internal relationships with members of the broader Corporate Finance team and other FTI practices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors in accounting and/or finance. MS or MBA preferred.

• Five plus years of business valuation experience and experience managing a team within a nationally recognized Valuation Advisory Practice.

• Previous experience managing projects and teams

• Willingness to travel, limited travel (10%) may be required.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• CFA, ASA, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining one or more of these credentials.

• CPA or sufficient hours to meet CPA requirements, and in process of obtaining CPA certification.

• Strong technical accounting or valuation skills, with detailed knowledge of fair value GAAP and SEC requirements.

• Advanced analytical and issue resolution intelligence, problem solving is essential.

• Proficient with PC environments and related software, including Microsoft Office applications, especially advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.

• Proficient use and analysis of computer models and development of dynamic spreadsheet applications.

• A strong aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis and the ability to link business strategy to performance and due diligence findings.

• The ability to conduct detailed analysis (using external information) on products, markets, competitors and customers to identify risks and opportunities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, as report writing is required to serve clients.

• Ability to interface with team members and client personnel in demanding, deadline-driven situations.

• Ability to effectively manage multiple staff and projects in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment.

• Ability and willingness to learn and adapt in an ever changing environment to meet client needs.
