ABOUT TECHNOLOGY:

ABOUT THIS ROLE:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Data Wrangler to join our growing data engineering team. The hire will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data pipeline architecture across projects and platforms. The ideal candidate is an experienced data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. The Data Wrangler will support our project teams on data initiatives and will ensure optimal delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our company's data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

The main responsibilities for the Data Wrangler will include:

  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.


  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources.
  • Work with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Keep our data separated and secure across national boundaries through multiple data centers and AWS regions.
  • Create data tools for analysis team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader.
  • Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ year experience in a Data Wrangler / Data Engineer role.
  • Background in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field.


PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience building and optimizing ETL workflows.
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres, Cassandra, or Elasticsearch.
  • Analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
  • Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data' data stores.
  • Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages such as Python, Java, C#, etc.
  • A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
