Title: Program Director, Diversity Initiatives Department: Department: Department of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Reports To: Vice President, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Work Schedule: Full Time Job Summary Under the supervision of the Vice President, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Program Director, Diversity Initiatives will guide, develop, and manage various programs, projects, and initiatives designed to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the graduate medical education (GME) community. Specifically, the role will establish the strategy associated with the ACGME’s Equity Matters framework and structure for the Learning Communities. The role will implement and manage all aspects of these Learning Communities, including the operations, training content, assessments, and evaluation/impact on the general medical education community. The Program Director, Diversity Initiatives will serve as the external relations coordinator, partnering with ACGME Communications Department, and interface externally on various diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Learning Communities – Equity Matters Oversee the implementation of the Equity Matters curriculum and associated programs for GME institutions. Serve as the lead program manager and primary point of contact of the ACGME and external program managers (Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS) and Institute for Physician Diversity (BC/BS of Illinois). Manage the development and operations of the Equity Matters program. Provide feedback and insight for program development and delivery. Serve as external relations coordinator and interface on Equity Matters w/ACGME Communications staff members. Develop, track, and report metrics associated with Equity Matters training and Learning Communities. Create the dissemination plan for all future cycles of Learning Communities at the end of the initial 18-month cycle, aligning with program evaluations and feedback from appropriate stakeholders. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives Oversee program operations for various DEI initiatives. Collaborate with program leadership to set roles and responsibilities, timelines, and level-set on program objectives based on qualitative and quantitative data available to the ACGME. Establish metrics for measuring DEI program success and oversee monitoring of program effectiveness. Provide and maintain a framework for data collection and reporting dashboards for programs, particularly for Equity Matters. Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders for the development of DEI institutional engagement strategies and appropriate standard operating procedures. Oversee the execution of program evaluations, assessments, and capstone projects. Work with program directors across GME to develop and implement programs and initiatives that foster diversity, equity, and inclusion in their institutions. Review analytics for assessment of program outcomes, progress tracker, CME matters, resource allocation, etc. Management Establish short- and long-team goals and objectives that align with the ACGME’s strategic priorities and organizational needs. In partnership with Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer and Vice President, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, manage the planning, forecasting, and budget administration associated with the ACGME’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Represent the department to external stakeholders in the absence of the Chief and/or Vice President. Support and develop the communication strategy for internal and external communication associated with diversity, equity, and inclusion. Manage vendors and, when appropriate, the contracting and supply chain process for DEI initiatives for the ACGME. Develop DEI metrics and reports as needed, but at least annually to appropriate requestors. Remain abreast of industry trends and best practices to ensure DEI initiatives are kept up to date to meet the demands of a changing environment. Other duties as assigned. Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Five to seven years’ experience in program development and management Five years’ experience in educational program management and administration Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to liaise effortlessly with various levels of leadership of both internal and external stakeholders Strong attention to detail and expert follow-up skills Superior organizational and workflow management skills, as well as proven program/project management skills Sound judgment, common sense, and dependability Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Previous experience managing and directing the work of others Preferred Masters’ degree in a relevant field Previous experience in accreditation, medical education, allied health, or hospital administration Equipment Position requires the significant use of standard office equipment, such as a computer, keyboard, mouse, photo copier, fax machine, telephone, etc. Working Conditions Most of the work of the Program Director, Diversity Initiatives is normally done in the ACGME office with the typical physical demands of an office environment. During the COVID-19 pandemic, ACGME employees are working remotely until further notice. The Program Director, Diversity Initiatives will need to be able to work remotely efficiently and effectively. While performing the duties of this job, the Program Director, Diversity Initiatives: Will frequently be required to participate in meetings via Zoom or other video conferencing platforms. Note, this is particularly relevant while working remotely. Will frequently be required to sit in meetings for long periods of time. Will frequently be required to sit and work for extended periods of time at a computer terminal using various computer programs and other computer tools.
