Job Summary

 

The ACGME is currently seeking a Data Quality Analyst to help maintain the quality and integrity of data, contribute to data preparation and creation of technical reports, and provide analytical support for operational systems.

 

Applications and Data Analysis Overview

 

The Department of Applications and Data Analysis is responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance of all data collection systems that deal with institutional and residency and fellowship program accreditation and outcomes. The department also provides project management, quality assurance testing, analytical reporting, and support for these data systems and data acquisition tools. Currently the department is taking a leadership role in the visual display of data and its use in accreditation.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Work with the data team to assist in the maintenance and quality of data used in the annual review of institutions and residency and fellowship programs.
  • Work with the data team in the data preparation, reconciliation, reporting, and analytic tasks required to meet business needs and requirements.
  • Assist in the implementation of testing strategies to ensure consistency among data collection sources, data warehouse database, reports, and dashboards.
  • Identify root cause of data integrity issues and implement corrective action through strong partnerships with development team and database administrators.
  • Understand existing applications and accreditation business rules to accurately QA databases and search for inconsistencies.
  • Resolve issues by developing operational and technical solutions, follow-up with key players to ensure implementation, and address limitations as needed.
  • Maintain documentation of all data QA processes.
  • Work with multiple large datasets (primarily SQL and SAS).
  • Create ad hoc reports or data files in response to specific data inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, social sciences, public health, or research-related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • At least two years of hands-on data quality experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience using programming languages (SQL, SAS) to query and evaluate datasets preferred; proficiency in Microsoft systems (Excel, Access, etc.) required.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytic skills and a proven track record of resolving data issues required.
  • Outstanding attention to detail required.

Preferred

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must have advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to manage projects independently and prioritize tasks.

 

Equipment

Position requires the significant use of standard office equipment, such as a computer, keyboard, mouse, photo copier, fax machine, telephone, etc.

 

Working Conditions

Most of the work of the Data Quality Analyst is normally done in the ACGME office with the typical physical demands of an office environment. During the COVID-19 pandemic, ACGME employees are working remotely until further notice. The Data Quality Analyst will need to be able to efficiently and effectively work remotely.

While performing the duties of this job, the Data Quality Analyst:

 

  • Will frequently be required to participate in meetings via Zoom or other video conferencing platforms. Note, this is particularly relevant while working remotely.
  • Will frequently be required to sit and work for extended periods of time at a computer terminal using various computer programs and other computer tools.
