Position Summary
The Processing Technician I role is a supportive role for the flow cytometry team at Precision for Medicine. In this role the processing technician will be responsible for supporting the flow lab testing of samples (clinical and pre-clinical) which will include thawing cryopreserved PBMCs, counting thawed cells with an automated cell counter, generating sample aliquots, and updating the sample status in the database. Support return of samples to appropriate sample storage (freezer or liquid nitrogen tanks) and ensure that sample status is updated in database. This position will require sterile/aseptic technique with tissue culture, prepare reagents, and participate in projects to improve service, quality, and efficiency of the flow team.
This position will be responsible for standard preventative maintenance of lab equipment including flow cytometers, documentation of maintenance of lab equipment according to equipment operating procedures, forms and best practices. Maintain lab supplies inventory and perform routine laboratory housekeeping in the flow lab.

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to
- Support projects by perform cell thawing, counting cells, and associated project documentation
- Perform cryopreservation of cells, aliquoting and standard tissue culture procedures
- Ensure samples are returned to appropriate storage and update sample status in database
- Perform equipment preventive maintenance
- Order and Maintain Lab supplies and prepare reagents
- Maintain and support safe lab practices and environment
- Other duties/projects as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Required:
- Associate's degree (Biology, Chemistry or Life Sciences) or equivalent combination of education and experience
Other required:
- Must possess basic laboratory skills and be trained in aseptic technique
- Requires good attention to detail, excellent documentation skills and must work well in a group environment
- Ability to lift and carry between 1-15 lbs.; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance; frequently required to sit, grasp, and use right/left finger dexterity; May be exposed to a cold freezer environment (Freezer temperatures range between -20ºC -196ºC)
- Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English language
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree (Biology, Chemistry or Life Sciences)
- At least 6 months to 1 year relevant laboratory experience
- Previous experience working in a controlled Quality Assurance regulated laboratory with LIMS database experience
