The primary goal of the NCI RAS Initiative is to discover new therapeutic interventions against RAS-driven cancers. The NCI RAS Initiative is composed of multiple groups focused on protein science, biochemistry/biophysics, structural biology, molecular imaging, computational and medicinal chemistry, and drug discovery. By understanding the basic biology of RAS, we aim to identify novel vulnerabilities that allow direct targeting of the mutant protein. The RAS Biochemistry/Biophysics group is responsible for developing novel assays to interrogate RAS activity and use these to identify small molecule inhibitors.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Under supervision, plan, conduct and evaluates experiments and assays of varying complexity
  • Provide biophysical and biochemical data on protein-protein and protein-lipid complexes in collaboration with biochemists, structural biologists and computational scientists
  • Perform calculations involving molarity, % solutions, and serial dilutions
  • Read and follow experimental protocols (Co-IP, SPR, tissue culture, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate and complete laboratory notebook capturing protocols, results and observations
  • Analyze data, prepare reports and presentations to share with other team members

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
