Job ID: req2539
Employee Type: exempt full-time
Division: Applied & Development Research Program
Facility: Frederick: Ft Detrick
Location: PO Box B, Frederick, MD 21702 USA
The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.
Accountability, Compassion, Collaboration, Dedication, Integrity and Versatility; it's the FNL way.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Laboratory of Human Retrovirology and Immunoinformatics (LHRI), Applied/ Developmental Research Directorate, has investigated the pathogenesis of virus infection and innate immune responses against infected viruses (HIV, HSV, and KSHV) using immunological, microbiological, biological, and bioinformatics techniques in Basic and Translational/Clinical Research (https://david.ncifcrf.gov/). Our research aims to develop novel immune therapies to support NIAID clinical studies for patients infected with multiple-class drug-resistant (MDR) HIV or HIV-related infectious diseases.
The Basic research section of LHRI has discovered Interleukin-27 (IL-27) as a novel anti-virus cytokine, IL-27-induced novel anti-micro RNAs, and novel innate immune response against virus infection in human immune system. The section seeks a productive and creative scientist.
