PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Protective Services provides 24/7 security coverage for the NCI-Frederick campus, the Vaccine Pilot Plant, and the Advanced Technology Research Facility. (ATRF)

This Protective Services Officer will work a full-time shift, Monday - Friday, 3:30pm to midnight.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The Protective Services Officer II will:
  • Perform periodic inspection of all grounds and facilities
  • Control access to facilities through the use of a computerized access control system
  • Respond to scientific alarms
  • Observe surroundings for possible health and safety hazards

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Possession of an Associate's degree in a Security related discipline from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in a related field (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education). Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • In addition to educational requirements, a minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in security or law enforcement, including instrumentation. Certification in First Aid or required
  • Must become First Aid, CPR/AED certified within 60 days of hire date (Training provided.)
  • Must attend training in hazardous waste operations at the awareness level (Training provided.)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

  • This position may require continuous or intermittent exposure to and exertion in environmental conditions such as working outdoors, temperature extremes, humidity extremes. etc. as part of the job
