The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Frederick National Laboratory is dedicated to improving human health through the discovery and innovation in the biomedical sciences, focusing on cancer, AIDS and emerging infectious diseases.

The Bioinformatics and Computational Science (BACS) directorate works collaboratively and helps to fulfill the mission of Frederick National Laboratory in the areas of biomedical informatics and data science by developing and applying world leading data science and computing technologies to basic and applied biomedical research challenges, supporting critical operations, developing and delivering national data resources, and employing leading-edge software and data science.

The BACS Program and Administrative Operations (PAO) group serves the directorate as an operating hub among multiple groups responsible for leading biomedical data science and world-leading data resources supporting cutting-edge biomedical research.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Front desk, reception coverage, greeting visitors, responding to phone calls and emails, maintain visitors log for office locations, currently Medical Center Drive and Gaither Road facilities
  • Provide procurement support to staff using blanket orders, purchase requisitions, credit card, and online warehouse system
  • Property Officer for Government Furnished Equipment (GFE)
  • Onboarding and Offboarding of employees
  • Software renewal management and tracking
  • Submit Building Maintenance and Copier repair requests
  • Maintain updated floor plans, sort/distribute mail, and monitor and order office supplies as needed for office locations
  • Providelogistical support for the facilitation of both pre-travel packages and post-travel packagesinto Deltek T&E while ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
  • Maintain BACS staffing list
  • Manage and distribute severable and non-severable month-end reports from the Cognos financial reporting system.
  • Be a co-leader in a cross-functional team to ensure successful daily operations for the program
  • Create and maintain strong, healthy business relationship with clients, vendors and FNL staff
  • Assist in scheduling meetings
  • Foster and nurture collaborative work environment
  • Special projects as needed to support BACS program areas
  • Other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
  • Possession of Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • Experience in the utilization of business processes and standard operating procedures to improve quality of work
  • Ability to collect and disseminate information in a clear, concise manner
  • Be able to work independently
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
  • Minimum of two (2) years related experience
  • Experience in business management, administrative management, and operations management
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and solvecomplex problems
  • Experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders

  • Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in order to work closely with numerous stakeholders from diverse organizations
