The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Cancer Research Technology Program (CRTP) develops and implements emerging technology, cancer biology expertise and research capabilities to accomplish NCI research objectives. The CRTP is an outward-facing, multi-disciplinary hub purposed to enable the external cancer research community and provides dedicated support to the NCI's Office of Cancer Clinical Proteomics Research (OCCPR) of the Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD). The Antibody Characterization Laboratory (ACL) is an unbiased intramural reference laboratory located at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, to validate antibody specificity and reproducibility. The ACL was funded to fulfill the mission of OCCPR to improve prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer, through the development of well-characterized and defined affinity reagents, which are central to reproducibility in biomedical research.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for experimental design, method development and data analysis of affinity measurements of Antibody/Antigen interactions, using techniques such as Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), BioLayer Interferometry (BLI), Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay (ELISA). Highly experienced in troubleshooting in experimental techniques and in data analysis
- Affinity characterization data reporting
- Performance of other immunological assays (e.g.: Western Blot, WB) or other analytical techniques, including protein quality control by SDS-PAGE and MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- Possession of a (CHEA) bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education) Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalence
- A minimum of eight (8) years related work experience
- Familiarity with SPR, BLI and ELISA, in data acquisition, data analysis and troubleshooting.
- Ability to perform other routine laboratory techniques for protein and antibody quality control, such as WB, SDS-PAGE and MALDI-TOF MS
- Ability to use graphic software, such as Adobe Photoshop, for image elaboration
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
- Highly skilled and experiences in SPR data analysis
- Experienced in measuring antigen-antibody interactions
- Ability to work independently, but also as part of multidisciplinary laboratory
