The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Vaccine, Immunity and Cancer Directorate mission is to provide scientific leadership and laboratory infrastructure to study immune responses to Human Papillomavirus (HPV), SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccines as well as other cancer preventive strategies in the context of clinical and pre-clinical studies.
As part of a large effort to combat the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) is collaborating with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID), the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Frederick National Laboratory (FNL) and other stakeholders to address gaps and unmet needs in serology assay development and standardization and to gain a solid fundamental knowledge of the immune response to SARS-CoV-2 and underlying mechanisms of protection against infection. The Serological Sciences Network (SeroNet), established by NCI, has as its hub the Frederick National Laboratory (FNL) Serology Lab and the Serological Sciences Network leveraging the vast expertise and excellence in HPV serology at the FNL. The SeroNet projects include 1) immune assay development to standardize, harmonize and expand capacity for clinical diagnostic serological antibody testing for SARS-CoV-2 and 2) studies to determine the immune response to SARS-CoV-2 infection and associated disease., FNL will provide program management support associated with running the SeroNet program as well as acquire academic and commercial subcontractors to engage in the projects to enroll and track patients, collect specimens, test specimens all while adhering to very specific Standard Operating Procedures.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Basic knowledge of serology, biospecimen processing and SOP development, use and training
- Provides logistic support to various designated projects related to the SeroNet Program
- Oversee and track delivery and receipt of SeroNet Biospecimens (domestic and international)
- Responsible for all aspects of SeroNet Biospecimen shipment requests-incoming and outgoing, including tracking, coordination and oversight
- Communicate and follow-up with SeroNet sample and data submitters regarding biospecimen shipments
- Responsible for monitoring adherence to SOPs for SeroNet Biospecimen collection, processing and shipping
- Provide training on SOPs, as needed
- Manage central document archive for SeroNet Biospecimen-related documents
- Input data into a LIMS system or Excel sheet for tracking purposes
- Contribute information for presentations and updates on a weekly basis as well as ad hoc
- Prepare internal and external correspondence and memos
- Utilize various tracking systems using Microsoft Excel, SharePoint and other applicable project and program related software
- Assists in the collection and compilation of metrics data and operational accomplishments in support of Leidos Biomed reporting requirements
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in biomedical/clinical research/healthcare or four (4) years related experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
- In addition to the education requirements, a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible lab experience
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
- Experience in serology and blood specimen processing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Federal Travel Regulations (FTR), Department of Transportation (DOT) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) shipping regulations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
- Health science, public health or laboratory experience, particularly in serology or blood banking
- Medical Technologist experience
- Project Management training
