The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Cancer Research Technology Program (CRTP) develops and implements emerging technology, cancer biology expertise and research capabilities to accomplish NCI research objectives. The CRTP is an outward-facing, multi-disciplinary hub purposed to enable the external cancer research community. A major focus of the CRTP is the NCI RAS Initiative with the goal to discover new therapeutic interventions against RAS-driven cancers. In addition, the CRTP hosts the Nanotechnology Characterization Laboratory (NCL) which performs and standardizes preclinical efficacy and toxicity testing of nanoparticles intended for cancer therapeutics and diagnostics, and the Antibody Characterization Lab (ACL) which characterizes monoclonal antibodies or other renewable affinity binding reagents for use in cancer related research. CRTP scientists also work collaboratively with intramural NCI investigators to provide research technologies and expertise.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide daily administrative support to the staff of Nanotechnology Characterization Laboratory (NCL)
  • Provide procurement support to the NCL staff by using blanket orders, purchase requisitions, credit card, and online warehouse system via telephone or internet.
  • Perform data entry into appropriate financial system component (CostPoint, Cor360), status checks on orders, maintenance of orders log, reconciliation of credit card transactions, maintenance of electronic filing systems
  • Provide logistical support for the facilitation of travel packages (both pre-travel and post travel) for the NCL staff, as well as the coordination of seminar speakers and subsequent reimbursements
  • Resolve issues surrounding various procurement and travel requests for NCL
  • Compose and answer emails and other correspondence
  • Answer phone calls
  • Establish and complete program forms, files and documentation in an organized manner
  • Communicate with all levels of personnel, both verbally and in writing, to gather and clearly convey information
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by a responsible authority

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent. Foreign degrees will be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • In addition to educational requirements, a minimum of five (5) years of related experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work as a team player with flexibility
  • Strong interpersonal stills with a desire to help
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
  • Experience working in Deltek CostPoint, Deltek Time & Expense, and Corcentric, Cognos experience
  • Experience working in the Purchasing Support Request System (PSRS) using the Jira platform
