The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Business Services Directorate (BSD) provides many types of operational, logistical, and administrative support across the Federally Funded Research & Development Center (FFRDC) task order contract. The Travel & Conference Planning Department (TCPD) facilitates travel, foreign and domestic, for Leidos Biomed employees, non-employees and invited guest speakers. TCPD also organizes and facilitates conferences, seminars, meetings, and special events, ranging from small to large, both on and off site as needed.
KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The Conference Event Planner II will coordinate and facilitate arrangements for conferences, seminars, meetings, and special events, ranging from small to large, both on and off-site, as required, for both government and Leidos Biomed requestors. Individual will obtain required approvals and manage necessary logistics, coordinate travel arrangements for participants and speakers, site/venue reservations, event advertisement, audiovisual/information technology support, registration, and at-meeting support. Individual will prepare documentation for review/approval of conference/travel, work with travelers to review/approve post-travel documentation and reconcile invoices for payment. Also, the individual will develop, recommend, and implement processes and procedures for planning, receiving approval for and operating meetings/conferences, and similar events, as well as coordinate related activities with Conference Center personnel. This position will require travel to local events to assist in conference setup and execution.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience
- Ability to prioritize and perform duties in a fast paced environment
- Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff and customers
- Ability to effectively work with MS Word and Excel
- Demonstrated experience with travel arrangements/preparation
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
- Experience working in Deltek CostPoint and Corcentric
- Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Federal Travel Regulation (FTR)
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to work in a SharePoint environment
