The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Molecular Characterization Laboratory (MoCha) is part of Leidos Biomedical Research's Clinical Research Directorate (CRD) at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research. The MoCha Laboratory is responsible for providing high-level research in support of the NCI-Cancer Diagnostics Program (CDP) within the Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD). MoCha is charged with the development and application of genomic assays for use in medical research and diagnostics for DCTD-sponsored national extramural clinical trials.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support MoCha's participation in the Cancer Moonshot Biobank project with assisting in the preparation of scientific and programmatic meetings, meeting minutes, and other required activities
  • Schedule meetings, teleconferences, Webex/Teams/Zoom meetings
  • Coordinate multiple schedules with internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Support MoCha purchasing needs by placing orders for reagents and other required items
  • Prepare contract deliverables and facilitate Section 508 compliance
  • Maintain files and active records under the supervision of MoCha Scientific Project Managers
  • Coordinate travel arrangements
  • Coordinate virtual and in-person scientific meetings
  • Assist with document preparation including formatting and grammatical review
  • Transcribe patient and physician information and genomic data into CLIA reports

Position is hybrid with primarily location in Frederick Maryland. Position may be required to participate in meetings in Rockville, MD.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • In addition to education requirements, a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible administrative experience
  • Experience coordinating multiple calendars and schedules
  • Experience with setting up teleconferences, and WebEx, MS Teams, and/or Zoom meetings
  • Experience purchasing supplies and other items for a scientific laboratory
  • Experience participating in scientific and programmatic meetings and recording meeting minutes and notes for distribution
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
  • Knowledge of FNLCR operations, purchasing policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of government travel regulations
  • Experience supporting a fast paced, high visibility project(s)
  • Experience supporting a complex scientific laboratory
  • Experience with Deltek, Costpoint, SharePoint
  • Experience with MS Project

EXPECTED COMPETENCIES
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Adobe PDF)
  • Highly organized and capable of handling multiple competing high priority tasks daily
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholder
