The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Frederick National Laboratory is dedicated to improving human health through the discovery and innovation in the biomedical sciences, focusing on cancer, AIDS and emerging infectious diseases.
The Bioinformatics and Computational Science (BACS) directorate works collaboratively and helps to fulfill the mission of Frederick National Laboratory in the areas of biomedical informatics and data science by developing and applying world leading data science and computing technologies to basic and applied biomedical research challenges, supporting critical operations, developing and delivering national data resources, and employing leading-edge software and data science.
The Program Administration and Operations (PAO) team provides support to the BACS Directorate, to ensure sound business operations including project budget planning and oversight, financial reporting, contractual compliance, procurement, travel planning, expense coordination, communications, and other key operational and administrative functions. The PAO also serves as an operational hub for collaboration both within BACS and across the Frederick National Laboratory.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the administrative needs of the BACS director
- Manage the front desk at the Shady Grove location to welcome visitors and accept shipments
- Calendar management for the BACS Director and multi-group meetings
- Facilitate BACS Director communications to BACS employees
- Schedule meetings for the BACS Director
- Arrange travel for the BACS Director
- Take meeting minutes for specific internal and external meetings
- Coordinate and schedule internal events such as All Hands meetings
- Property Officer for Government Furnished Equipment (GFE)
- Provide procurement support to staff using blanket orders, purchase requisitions, credit card, and online warehouse system
- Prepare travel requests for staff
- Provide logistics support for Frederick and Shady Grove locations
- Submit tickets for building maintenance and copier repair requests for Frederick and Shady Grove locations
- Sort and distribute mail
- Receiving / transferring calls while managing electronic communications appropriately and professionally
- Monitor and order office supplies as needed for Frederick and Shady Grove locations
- Other duties as assigned
BASIS QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- Possession of Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
- In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience Experience with Windows, MS Office including Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint
- Knowledge of the use of proper English/grammar/spelling/punctuation
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
- Experience with government contracts
- Advanced experience with Microsoft 365 Suite
