The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Performance Improvement Specialist (Full-Time Remote) is a key addition to Quality and Performance Excellence Office (QPE). QPE Office operates under the Ethics and Compliance Office which is centralized function for ethics, auditing, corporate compliance, and business process functions. At QPE Office, we collaborate with internal teams to analyze their challenges, discover their bottlenecks, and implement sustainable solutions.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides support for Performance Improvement management
  • Utilizes continuous improvement tools and methodologies (lean, six sigma), project management, change management and facilitation skills to improve organizational processes and guide transformation activities
  • Collaborates with process owners, safety, sustainability, audit, and accounting on various projects related to process improvement and quality
  • Gathers, analyzes, interprets, and presents process data
  • Assist with meeting deadlines for QPE projects and initiatives
  • Utilizes strong communication skills to effectively facilitate process improvement efforts, present to groups, and transmit written information to a variety of audiences
  • Assist with gathering feedback from across the organization on areas for potential process improvement during yearly review
  • Assists with drafting and executing trainings for process improvement
  • Supports gathering organizational metrics and key inputs for operational planning
  • Documents case studies on performance and/compliance issues that were successfully completed to be shared with various levels of the organization

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Science or other related field from an accredited college or university (according to CHEA)
  • Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office - Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • Good communication skills
  • Love solving problems and approach them methodologically
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Strong team facilitation skills including building trust and open communication regarding project issues and results
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
  • Experience in healthcare and government contracting
  • Experience in process improvement, project management and statistics
  • Green Belt Certification
