Scientist I- Electron Microscopy
Job ID: req3573
Employee Type: exempt full-time
Division: Cancer Research Technology Program
Facility: Frederick: ATRF
Location: 8560 Progress Dr, Frederick, MD 21701 USA
The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.
Accountability, Compassion, Collaboration, Dedication, Integrity and Versatility; it's the FNL way.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Vaccine Research Center Electron Microscopy Unit (VRC-EMU), located at National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Frederick, MD, performs electron microscopy analysis of proteins and related specimens for the Vaccine Research Center (VRC) of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Cryo-EM, negative-stain EM, and classical thin-section EM are all being used to address a wide spectrum of questions broadly related to vaccine research and development. High-throughput cryo-EM data collection and high-resolution single particle analysis of cryo-EM data by VRC-EMU are central to structure-based vaccine design efforts at VRC NIAID. VRC-EMU runs a Thermo Scientific Titan Krios and a Thermo Scientific Talos F200C electron microscopes and shares access to multiple smaller Thermo Scientific and Hitachi electron microscopes.
