About the Role

The Benefits Analyst plays a crucial role in managing and overseeing FTI's benefit programs, with a significant focus on leave of absence administration. This role is responsible for the comprehensive management of leave cases from start to finish, ensuring seamless coordination between the employee, HR partners, third-party administrators (when applicable), employee relations, legal, and payroll teams.

In addition to leave management, the Benefits Analyst is responsible for:
  • Coordinating with FTI's benefit vendor partners to ensure effective benefit plan delivery, implementing new programs, and resolving any issues that arise.
  • Assisting in the development and execution of employee communication plans, working closely with vendor partners and consultants.
  • Ensuring compliance with FTI benefit plan documents, contracts, and company policies, as well as adhering to ERISA, DOL, IRS, ADA, FMLA, and other local, state, and federal regulations.

What You'll Do

Benefits Administration:
  • Administration of all benefits plans to include data coordination, quality checks and correction, as needed, by external vendor partners
  • Contribute to the execution of the annual open enrollment process
  • As needed, advise on approvals of necessary documents related to qualified status changes initiated by employees which have been provided to the Global HR Service Center for review
  • Perform employee benefit premium payroll deduction reconciliations, as needed
  • Monitor weekly 401(k) loan files from FTI's vendor to ensure FTI's payroll system has appropriately set-up or stopped deductions; take corrective actions when needed
  • Monitor 401(k) employee eligibility status for potential errors and take corrective action when needed
  • Provide the necessary data reports to assist in sending employee reminder communications (e.g., FSA year-end) or other benefit notifications
  • Review and investigate employee benefit issues
  • Manage the annual 401(k) catch-up contribution opt-out process and notifications
  • Handle all special enrollments or special enrollment groups where high touch is required
  • Handle all QDROs, QMCSOs, and any other unique claim or distribution arrangement. Effectively engage the related vendor partners and their special service teams where applicable.
  • Assist in managing all Canadian benefit programs including the billing analysis, enrollment, vacation accrual reporting, quarterly retirement contribution reminders, etc.
  • Prepare and report the quarterly San Francisco Health Care Ordinance processing
  • Complete payroll reconciliation reports for HSA, FSA and Commuter benefits.

Data Analytics:
  • Build, update and maintain benefit data reports
  • Analyze data for anomalies and trends; take corrective action, as needed.

Leave Management process and case coordination:
  • Liaison with third party leave administration vendors to maintain U.S. and Canadian leave programs to include but not limited to disability, maternity leave, and parental leave.
  • Manage and advise on benefits tracking, time entry, and leave payouts. Coordinate with employees and their managers and HR team. Provide the necessary reports to payroll.
  • Effectively interpret and seek guidance, as needed, related to FMLA and ADA implications regarding leaves of absences and disabilities.
  • Maintain all leave tracking reports and ensure proper status updates occur with FTI's vendor partners.
  • Assist in the implementation of new state disability and paid leave programs.

Benefits Communication:
  • Collaborate with the Senior Benefits Manager to communicate benefit programs, including onboarding new hires, annual enrollment and plan changes

Compliance :
  • Maintain all legal documentation to be in compliance with company policies and local, state, and federal government regulations.
  • Assist, as needed, with data collection for the IRS Form 5500 preparation and related audits 401(k) and any disclosure reporting requirements
  • Prepare and submit OSHA reports as needed and support any Workers' Compensation Reporting
  • Ensure and support compliance with various local, state, and federal statutes, as required

Policies and Practices Administration :
  • Serve as a resource to Human Resources employees with understanding benefit programs and policies
  • Partner with the Global HR Solutions Center to provide guidance on escalated benefit questions
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures (SOPs) for assigned benefits processes. Periodically review assigned processes for improvements and efficiencies.

Special projects as needed :
  • Assist with vendor RFP processes
  • Ad hoc analyses and reporting
  • Participate in the development of department goals and objectives
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Basic Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of benefit administration experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • This role may require travel to FTI offices
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; this position will not sponsor applicants for work visas
