The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research and the National Cancer Institute at Frederick provide comprehensive professional EHS services to employees working in general offices, industrial shops, experimental research laboratories, and animal care environments. Work is performed within the offices of the EHS Directorate and on multiple campuses in various customer locations.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide onsite "front desk" customer support for EHS.
  • Action purchase or payment requests as received to include credit card requests, purchase requisitions, blanket orders.
  • Administer safety eyewear and footwear programs including order entry, coordination of service, facilitation of payment and recordkeeping.
  • Process invoices or payments received through COR or as requested/directed.
  • Action travel/training/conference requests received in the EHS Email Inbox and as directed.
  • Action general inquiries and other emails received in the EHS Email Inbox.
  • Answer EHS general phone line and provide caller with direction and support.
  • Prepare documentation related to EHS including but not limited to general information, process documents, SOP's.
  • Submit safety response request form when notified of an issue (phone or email).
  • Provide senior level administration support to multiple EHS programs as requested.
  • Administer communication notices for the EHS Program.
  • Prepare reports and information upon request or per established schedule.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
  • Possession of Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
  • In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of two (2) years of related experience is required,
  • Knowledge of, and ability to use, MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) at an intermediate level.
  • Knowledge of administrative tasks and ability to use, e.g., data entry, record keeping, processing of requests, task management, documentation preparation.
  • Ability to provide customer service, verbal or written, including redirection or handoff to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to use, purchasing and invoicing systems and processes to complete routine tasks.
  • Ability to think critically and work through a situation, process, or issue to reach a reasonable solution(s).
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and aligned with established due dates.
  • Ability to seek guidance or clarification, when needed, to ensure tasks and responsibilities are completed timely and accurately.
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Ability to act tactically and think strategically.
  • Ability to manage time to complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to analyze information and provide a solution(s).
  • Ability to interpret information and respond when limited variables exists (the whole picture).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
  • Experience providing administrative support at an executive level.
  • Experience with using Costpoint and Corcentric systems.
  • Previous experience providing administrative support in a government contracting environment.
