Finetune's R&D and product team combined innovative thinking in teaching and learning with expertise in leading-edge technology for more than ten years and has been a pioneer in the Large Language Model application in education space. Our work includes Generate and Catalog-products that use a unique, patent-pending AI approach to help author and tag content at scale. Finetune is also created AP® Classroom-a platform we built in partnership with The College Board that serves over 3 million students and 175,000 teachers daily.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• This is not a standard data science role with clean datasets and predetermined train-test splits. You will develop custom AI solutions in a dynamic environment where requirements evolve and data is often unstructured. Your responsibilities will include:
• Designing and implementing AI systems for intelligent content generation and classification in educational assessment
• Building customized AI solutions to meet specific customer requirements
• Conducting rapid technical investigations and lightweight research
• Creating production-ready AI pipelines that integrate with our product ecosystem
• Developing internal tools to automate and enhance team efficiency

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree with 2+ years of real-world work experience
• Strong Python programming skills
• Comfort with collaborative development practices, specifically Git and code review
• Practical experience implementing solutions using LLM APIs
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with ill-defined requirements and independently lead projects

• Strong customer empathy with ability to"channel the customer" in solution design
• Product mindset-you go beyond data analysis, doing work that directly shaped user-facing features
• Experience communicating directly with customers
