ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Storage Engineer is responsible for management, maintenance, performance, and health of FTI's mission critical storage infrastructure. Responsibilities also include planning and implementing firmware and code upgrades, data migration activities, developing documentation, and ensuring integrity of client data.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Manage and maintain all SAN/NAS/Object/Storage-as-a-Service "STaaS" systems across our global data centers.
  • Manage and maintain all Microsoft Windows Failover cluster environments.
  • Maintain storage best practices and storage life cycle management including code and firmware upgrades.
  • Assist Storage Architect/Storage Director with design and implementation of new technologies.
  • Document and implement standard operating procedures for storage related activities.
  • Monitor performance of SAN/NAS/Object/STaaS and Windows Failover cluster environments.
  • Work effectively with system administrator/engineers, DBAs, developers, project managers, business representatives, vendors, and analysts to complete tasks in timely manner.
  • Provide storage resources for team and enterprise wide projects.
  • Act as technical resource or lead resource on projects that span multiple teams of engineers.
  • Mentoring and /or training of other team members.
  • Offer Tier 3 support during storage outages, performance issues, and other related troubles
  • Work as part of an on-call resource rotation for after hours support.
  • Demonstrate initiative through technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, business knowledge, organizational skills, and professionalism.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3 years Storage experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of Microsoft systems support or relevant Information Technology experience.
  • Must have a B.S. or a B.A. college degree, technical certifications, or commensurate work experience.
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and technical judgment.
  • Experience in a 24/7/365, multi-tiered production environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to provide excellent client service in demanding, deadline-drive situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with peers and senior management when required.
  • Experience and creativity in troubleshooting software/hardware/process problems.
  • Efficient and effective problem resolution abilities; ability to think clearly under pressure.
  • Ability to analyze, identify, and communicate corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of networking principles, Microsoft 2008 R2, 2012 R2 and newer operating systems, Microsoft Failover Clustering, infrastructure/troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting enterprise systems, including Windows Server and Linux.
  • Necessary skills include flexibility, ability to work under tight deadlines, ability to handle multiple tasks through prioritization and time management skills, excellent communication, exceptional collaboration and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts and troubleshooting techniques
  • Ability to create automation scripts using Powershell or other scripting languages to perform storage related automation tasks.
