Intel Consulting Architect

Location:
Reston/Herndon/Chantilly, VA
Clearance Required: TS/SCI with CI or FS Poly

Skills Required:
  • Certified in VCP and Security+
  • Experience with NSX, vSAN, vSphere, ESXi, vRA, vRO, vROps
  • Holds technical skills, business acumen, and a strong desire to support the customer.
      • Experience in Infrastructure (Data Center Design, Networking, Systems Hardware, System Architecture Virtualization, Systems Management, Security), and Cloud Computing (Automation and Orchestration, Cloud Methodologies, Cloud-Native Apps, and DevOps), or Desktop virtualization and enterprise mobility solutions.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the technical leadership required to deliver customer-focused solutions, capabilities, and sales support to ensure that VMware customers can execute their journey to a Software-Defined Enterprise that leverages multiple clouds.
  • Excellent interpersonal/listening skills, complex problem-solving, big-picture thinking, and solution articulation.
  • Scope the solution and supporting conceptual design/client proposal generation. This includes estimating effort calculations, defining service descriptions, risk identification/mitigation, and drafting detailed work packages.
  • Actively contribute to defining vision for the Architecture & Engineering function
  • Advocate and encourage innovation, creative thought, and new ideas and/or solutions
  • Contributes to publications and community events.
  • Deliver workshops with customers and PSO consultants on or off customer premises to thoroughly capture requirements.
  • Analyze requirements and designing technical solutions based on VMware technologies and third-party or open-source products.
  • Architect large-scale enterprise solutions, designing and implementing scalability and high availability alternatives for them.
  • Apply modern software development methodologies, with emphasis on software and hardware architecture, infrastructure design, and development.
  • Independently conducting engagements with customers in a timely and effective manner
  • Researching new technologies and provide technical guidance to management and team. Identifying new opportunities for services.
  • Mentor junior and coaching senior members of the team.
  • Produce quality technical content and sharing it with the VMware community, partners and customers through services documentation, best practices, training, blogs, and presentations.
  • Build and maintain the confidence of colleagues and customers and leading improvements in the organization
  • Maintain and develop current knowledge of the entire VMware product line.
  • Lead and assist in the development of standard reusable VMware "productized" consulting service offerings, including the definition of tasks, deliverables, and standard estimates.
  • Present custom solutions and articulating how business requirements are met to all levels of customer resources, from operators and consumers to the highest management staff.

Education / Experience Requirements:
  • 12+ years' experience in a technical capacity in either Infrastructure, Development, Desktop, or Systems Management, with a strong bias toward networking and containerization
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong executive client management, business development, and consulting or professional services experience
  • Experience as a technical architect in a consulting environment, including time supporting sales and working with technical staff and implementations.
  • Strong understanding of application software development for one or more of the Linux, UNIX (e.g. Solaris), and Windows operating systems.
  • Systems programming or OS internal level skills would be an advantage.
  • Industry-leading technical certifications are highly desirable (VCP, VCDX, CCIE or MCA)
  • Deep understanding of virtual IT production data centers
  • Deep understanding of networking and storage
  • Experience and understanding of modern DevOps practices.
  • An understanding and experience with automation/configuration management using tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or an equivalent is highly desired.
  • Strong systems design and architecture skills
  • Strong scripting skills in any of the following: JavaScript, Python, Perl, Powershell, Bash, etc.
  • Strong ability to synthesize customer business requirements and convert into technology solutions based on VMware Management product stack
  • Familiarity with systems management concepts, processes and standards (e.g. SNMP); capacity/performance management and tuning; and storage and network management
  • Understanding of modern IT production data center and Internet (ISP/ASP) hosting operations
  • Knowledge of broader network infrastructure components (e.g. TCP/IP, Active Directory, DNS)
  • Practical experience with the VMware portfolio - vSphere, NSX, vRealize Suite, vCD, etc.
  • Knowledge of technology stack and services of public cloud providers - AWS, Azure, etc.
  • Strong presentation skills, able to adjust and communicate with different levels - Engineers; IT Administrators; Project/Program Managers; all level of Managers including C level execs.
  • Emphasis on results and goal-oriented
