SUMMARY:
This position will assist in the technical review of new or significant accounting transactions to ensure compliance with US GAAP. This position will collaborate with corporate, segment, and regional finance teams to carry out their responsibilities.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Prepare position papers for recurring accounting areas subject to estimates, judgments, and complexity (e.g. revenue, compensation, and goodwill impairment)
Assist with development of training material on key topics (e.g. revenue and leases)
Assist with the delivery of training materials on key accounting topics during quarterly training provided to regional and segment finance personnel
Assist in the review of the segment finance team's documentation of estimates and judgments in revenue recognition
Assist in the preparation of quarterly quantitative and qualitative revenue recognition disclosures
Assist in research for new and significant transactions
Prepare journal entries for new and significant transactions and coordinate with the corporate department to ensure the entries are properly recorded in the accounting system.
Monitor the ongoing accounting of significant transactions after initial measurement to ensure a successful transition
Manage revenue recognition and compensation-related consultation requests from regional and segment finance teams
Assist the corporate, segment, and regional finance teams, on a consultation basis, with the appropriate accounting for compensation, leases, and cloud computing contracts, among others.
SKILLS:
Education & Background
3-5 years of total finance and accounting experience including time spent with "Big 4" public accounting/audit.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited university in the United States
Active CPA license required
Technical Accounting
Strong technical accounting knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in the areas of revenue recognition, compensation, and goodwill
Non-Technical
Strong overall leadership, management and organizational skills
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
Self-motivated, detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills
Strong computer skills including general ledger/accounting systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
