FTI Consulting's Economic Consulting practice provides law firms, corporations and government agencies with sophisticated and comprehensible analyses of complex economic issues to assist them in understanding the issues and opportunities they face. Our Economic Consulting practice is involved in a wide range of engagements at the intersection of economics, finance and accounting. We provide critical insight and expert testimony in legal and regulatory proceedings, strategic decision making and public policy debates. We also have deep expertise in antitrust issues, mergers and acquisitions, securities litigation and risk management, valuation and international arbitration. 

What You'll Do

A Consultant is responsible for managing, processing, and analyzing information to develop solutions for external clients. In addition, the position requires the development of written reports explaining the procedures employed. A successful individual in the position will be able to work independently and to take initiative in solving problems that are faced on a day-to-day basis, continually striving to ensure quality output that can withstand the scrutiny of litigation.

  • Perform quantitative analyses and conduct studies as required by internal and external clients
  • Develop and manage database systems from large datasets
  • Develop proficiency in modeling frameworks, either maintained by NIS or by third-parties
  • Assist others in defining data requirements for various efforts
  • Communicate findings with clients and external stakeholders
  • Write memoranda to describe the procedures employed to complete tasks and to summarize the results of research or analysis
  • Maintain workpapers if they are deemed required
  • Maintain time and expenses
  • Travel on periodic out-of-town assignments
  • Other duties as assigned


How You'll Grow

Suitable candidates will be problem-solvers who enjoy developing and applying bespoke approaches to solve complex, unstructured problems in a logical and structured manner. Candidates will have strong analytical skills; be able to explain their work and communicate their conclusions and findings clearly, both orally and in writing; and be able to draw upon their experience of applying principles to solve problems in practice.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Business, Information Systems, Mathematics, Operations Research, or Management Sciences
  • 1 plus years of relevant experience is preferred, internships will be taken into consideration
  • Consulting, professional services or client facing experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with computer software packages, such as SQL, Tableau, Excel, and Access
  • Experience with geographic information systems (GIS)
  • Experience with PLEXOS, REMI, or IMPLAN
  • Understanding or interest in railroads, energy, other network industries, or public policy are preferred but not required
  • Ability to work independently with close attention to detail
  • Must communicate succinctly both orally and in writing
  • Establish priorities and handle multiple projects at the same time
  • The ability to work on time-sensitive, quality-sensitive projects
